Our plans for continued regeneration and rejuvenation of this facility include a long term vision of investment in people and in the facility where digital technologies will become an increasingly active tool in servicing, maintenance, conversion, refittting and with shipbuilding and engineering in general.
In our pursuit of increasing productivity and being hugely efficient and competitive, Pallion will will have plant upgrades with modern automated panel lines and unit production facilities using the latest advanced and even not yet excepted new disruptive technology in fabrication and assembly such as snake arm robotics, additive technologies and electron beam welding abilities, the very latest and future outfitting/fitting out techniques etc. Moving into smart manufacturing for certain projects and placing the New Pallion facility at the forefront of industry 4.0 and beyond.
New Pallion will have it's own intelligent digital cyber twin, an actual virtual Pallion shipyard that will be online analysing new technologies for it's real self and new markets and new ship types and looking to integrate these into it's real shipyard twin, along with help in modelling, planning and sighting any issues in a project undertaken in Pallion. More information is found on the: The UK's Virtual Digital Shipyards website. Coupled with this, Pallion will be implementing Augmented reality (AR)... The cyber digital twin will be implementing the whole project manufacturing process before, during and after the actual process in the actual World is taken. Learn, help and show people who undertake the process in any project the best route to take. So even if there is just one of it's type to make, the people involved will be well versed in how it all goes together instead of learning from the outset. This happened with the super carriers in which so much was learned from building the Queen Elizabeth going into being more efficient in building the Prince of Wales. Learning how to build one or a series of any project, or conversion and how to go about maintenance needs to be understood by management workers and on the floor workers before hand.
Pallion will be integrated with it's supplier network and be able to model itself, for itself a potential contract it sees it's real twin being able to take part in, then giving it's advice to the shipyard team and how to plan for the best outcome. Any UK taxpayer funded project Pallion is involved with will mean we have to show value to the UK and investment from these projects to make sure we are World leading, which is a benefit to the contractor and client/buyer.
